Inspiration flying cranes
The Japanese crane, also known as the Manchu crane, is a symbol of peace, good luck and long life in Japan. It is believed that they can live up to 1000 years, which is an exaggeration, but they are truly long-lived. We know of a Manchu crane that lived 75 years in captivity. Migration is also part of the Japanese crane's way of life, with the Hokkaido population flying only 150 kilometres to their wintering grounds and their mainland counterparts travelling much longer distances. I have tried to capture the majesty of the cranes' migratory migrations in troops.
